Obituary of Karen "Punkin" Sue Evanson

On the morning of Sunday, June 30, 2019 Karen “Punkin” Sue Evanson of Duluth passed away at the age of 73. Punkin was born to Vernon and Margaret Olson in Duluth in September 1945.  Punkin proudly raised her five children, numerous neighborhood children and over 200 foster children. Punkin’s door was open to anyone that needed advice, support or a meal. Punkin enjoyed rummage sales, junk storing as well as trips to the casino.  Punkin is preceded in death by her father, Vernon B. Olson, her mother, Margaret “Muggs” Trunnell, her brother, Vernon “Butch” B. Olson Jr and sister, Hope “TooToo” Copa.  Punkin is survived by her significant other of 47 years, Richard Hendrickson, sons-Blake (Joanne Carey) Evanson, Blaine (Pam Ross) Evanson, Blaire (Paige) Evanson, daughters-Danielle (Scott) Peterson and Rikelle Hendrickson, sister Tina Olson and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Per Punkin’s request, we will not be having a formal service. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Blackwoods in Proctor from 4-8.
