Syverson, Phyllis L.

Age 83 of Eden Prairie, MN passed away peacefully on June 29. Born to Olaf and Edith Borseth in Wadena, MN.  She had no choice but to become a “depression era” child in a family with seven siblings. This made her a fiercely independent woman who relied on no one but herself.   Eventually, she met and married Harlan who was cut from the same cloth and together they created their story. She enjoyed life to the fullest and paid particularly close attention to nature, music, children, grandchildren and valued time spent with people over anything material.  She was a creative soul and loved to see what the potential in people could develop into. During their child rearing days, Phyllis felt strongly that she had more to offer and took in exchange students and a foster child to help develop their lives as well. She gave time and money to many causes.  She loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, and made sure immediate and extended family had many shared memories together.  She also enjoyed puzzles, playing the piano, classical music, theater and always made sure you never left her home without some food!  She had attitude, opinions, stubbornness, grit, and strength far beyond what one would expect.  She lived by her convictions, yet she never wanted attention drawn to her. She is survived by Harlan, her husband of 61 years, siblings Ramona (John), Lorna (Charles) and Gerald, and her children Gregg (Lisa), David (Diane), grandchildren Janelle, Eric, Erin and Alissa.  Her parents, siblings Gloria, Marilyn, Helene, and Eugene, and daughter Karen preceded her in death. Her favorite targets of giving were the Salvation Army and Disabled American Vets.  The family will appreciate any memorial gifts going to either of them. Celebration of life to be held on Monday July 22nd from 4:00-7:00 at the Gold Nugget Grille 14401 Excelsior Blvd Minnetonka, MN 55346.
