Obituary of Frances J. Caster
Frances J. Caster, 91 passed away peacefully, June 23, 2019 In Cloquet MN.
Fran was born to Ruth (Spikberg) and Joe Engman, Nov 3, 1927 In Duluth MN.
Fran lived in many places and had many interesting jobs, during the war, starting at age 15 she worked for the railroad as a “Gandy dancer”, then worked at Oscar Mayer in Seattle, drove a school bus in Florida, and finally retired as a Nutrition Services Manager in Montana. She then came ‘home’ to Minnesota to enjoy her retirement.
Fran is preceded in death by the father of her children, Gerald Caster, her eldest son, Wayne, brothers, Joe and Reggie Engman, sisters, Louise Sather and Dorothy Balcom. Fran is survived by her two sons, Ron Caster, David Caster and her daughter Laurie (Bruce) Carlson. Fran also has two surviving sisters, Shirley Tremblay and Mary Manthie. She leaves 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Fran enjoyed a full and happy life. She loved polka dancing, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, knitting, crocheting, reading and rummaging.
Special thanks go to the staff at New Perspective Senior Care in Cloquet, who provided an excellent, caring environment during Fran’s stay at their facility.
In lieu of flowers, it was Fran’s wish that you consider a donation in her name to the Alborn Fire Department, 6615 Hwy 47, Alborn, MN 55702.
Memorial services will be held at the First Memorial Funeral Chapel at 4100 Grand Avenue, in Duluth on Tuesday, July 2nd beginning with visitation at 9:00am followed by services at 10:00am.
