Obituary of Janice Ann Leafer

Leafer, Janice Ann (Jayne) Age 74, began her next adventure on June 15, 2019. Her son, daughter, extended family and friends, supported her throughout her transition. She embarked from her home, often called the "ship's captain home" on the historic home tour on Lake Minnetonka at the port of Excelsior, Minnesota with fearless grace and optimism. Her husband, Woody Leafer, preceded her on the journey as well as her brother George Jayne and mother Edith Alice Lace. She is survived by her son, James Aaron Farrar; daughter, Allison Elizabeth Gardner, and grandson, Jackson Everett Verdis. Janice was very proud to have been born in the great state of Michigan, specifically Ann Arbor, where she graduated with a B.A. in teaching from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. GO BLUE! Janice was a teacher, not only in the "licensed" sense, but in the more profound sense, a sense only other intrinsic teachers understand. She inspired the joy of learning in everyone she met. She was a true wizard with plants and could recognize a myriad of different birds and bird songs. There are so many more amazing and enthusiastic sparks of truth and joy Janice has, and continues to, ignite in all of us. Join us as we share her stories, puzzle pieces, adornments and light that remains eternal. On Saturday, July 6th, 2019, a celebration of life is being held at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska, MN, 55318). Service begins at 11:00 AM in the Snyder Auditorium.
