Obituary of Bruce Wade Stephan
Bruce Wade Stephan age 54 of Waconia passed away on June 16 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family after a 7-month battle with lung cancer. Born in Mason City, Iowa on July 29, 1964, Bruce was the youngest of four boys. His childhood was spent between Iowa, Minnesota and the family farm in Wisconsin. In high school, he proudly captained Shattuck St. Mary's football and ice hockey teams, later going on to be drafted first round of the USHL and play for the Sioux City Musketeers. After serving in the army from 1984-1987 as an air traffic controller, he graduated from the University of Minnesota's School for Geography and Environmental Sciences. His career as a land surveyor perfectly suited his passion for the outdoors. Year-round he could be found hunting, fishing and gardening. Fatefully meeting Pam at a bowling alley in 1988 set Bruce up to become the family man for which he will be remembered. He was an avid story teller, amazing cook, loving father and adoring husband. He is survived by his wife Pam Stephan; sons Chad Nelson and Jack Stephan; daughter Rachel Stephan; brothers Philip Stephan Jr. and Mark Stephan(Tierza); many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brother Craig Stephan (1971); parents Iva Jean Stephan (2003) and Philip Stephan Sr. (2014). Memorial services will be held on June 28 at MN Cremation Society in Edina. Visitation is at 2pm, services at 3pm. Reception to follow. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN is TBD.
