Obituary of Gladys Lucille Nelson

Gladys Lucille Nelson, age 97 of Duluth, passed away on June 15th, 2019.

She was born on January 15, 1922 in Barnum, MN. Gladys was one of ten children born to David and Winifred Rogers. She worked with children with special needs for Duluth Public Schools for 16 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Duluth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman Nelson; sisters Wanda Thompson, Margeruite Liimatainen, Katherine Sundeen, Janet Schlafer, Juanita Tuholski; one brother Charles Rogers and her special friend, William Sharp.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Barnes of Purcellville, VA; her son, Bradley Nelson (Marlys) of St. Bonifacius; her brother, Richard Rogers (Edna) of Silver Bay; her two sisters Myrtle LaPine of Scanlon and Phyllis Skoglund of Barnum; three grandchildren Barbara, Andrea, and Matthew; four great-grandchildren Leah, Macy, Logan, and Alex; and two great-great granddaughters Ellie and Emily.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service, Friday June 21st, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Parkway, Duluth.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the church.
