When we first bought our cabin at Whitefish Rita and Richard were some of our first visitors. They were very welcoming and gave us some wonderful history on the lake, the property. Her love of family and of the lake will stay with us and I am sure others for a lifetime.

We were very blessed to be able to get to know Rita over the past years. Our favorite memory with Rita is spending Thanksgiving with her. She will be very missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Rita’s family and friends.

So sorry for your loss. I spent many hours helping special ed. students in her class at the High School. She was so interesting to listen to. She was great to all students but had a knack for reaching others. Awesome lady!

I met Rita as a friend and neighbor on Whitefish Lake. She worked tirelessly to preserve the lake quality of our beautiful lake by taking water samples, analyzing data, and keeping extensive records. We also had many fun times socializing at The Beechmoor. Keeping Richard and all her family close in prayer. Shirley Fischer

I am so sorry to learn of Rita's passing. I will miss all the good questions she asked on our GSM trips. I learned so much about rocks/geology from her questions. And her great smile and positive attitude. Lucky the people who knew her.

Rita was always cheerful, patient, and had delightful stories to share during C Lunch at Mahtomedi High School. I was privileged to work with her for 20 years and enjoyed every contact with her. The students loved her too. We shared a great love of astronomy and I always made sure the Media Center had plenty of current books for her classes to use. She had such a memorable family trip to Latvia and talked about it often. We discovered that we knew a Riga woman as a common friend and marveled at what a small world it was. We met for lunch after our retirement and she shared many fun stories of times with her granddaughter. I'll miss her a great deal; she was so kind and thoughtful. My sympathies to Arnie and Richard and all her family, and blessings on her soul.

I was honored to have Rita visit my solar home in the mountains 5 years ago. We lived on the corner of Rankin Rd. across the street, and my sister Kathi was a great friend since then.

I was a student of Mrs. Childs while I was in highschool. I was always excited for her classes as she was such a fun and vibrant teacher. I loved how she taught her material, and her passion for what she was teaching was evident. She was a great teacher and she will be missed.
