Obituary of Gustaf R. Magnuson

Gustaf R. "Bob" Magnuson, 93, of Two Harbors, MN, Passed away Monday, May 13th at Ecumen Scenic Shores. Bob was born February 11, 1926 in Two Harbors to Joel and Edla Magnuson. Bob entered the Navy in 1944. He was on the USSLST, his title was motor machinist. He served in Okinawa, Japan in WWII. Bob was discharged in 1946. He worked at DMIR RR until retirement. In June of 1949, he married the love of his life, Meredith. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the cabin at Thomas Lake. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, entertaining them playing his harmonica. Bob was a member of the Moose Lodge and Legion in Two Harbors. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Meredith (November 2019), sister, June, brother, Burt and daughter-in-law, Sally. Bob is survived by daughter, Roberta (Mike) Wick and son, Tom; grandchildren, Laura McMahon, Amy (Roger) Coombs, Dustin (Chelsey) Magnuson and Ashley Magnuson; great-grandchildren, Ava and Eve, Bryce and Rylan, Rogeena and Rashid; brother-in-law, Jack (Pat) Freeman; sister-in-law, Fran Magnuson; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Ecumen for the wonderful care he received. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Moose Lodge in Two Harbors on Saturday, June 8th at 2:00 p.m.
