Obituary of Barbara May Spongberg

Barbara May Spongberg 88 of Duluth, died peacefully surrounded by family and reunited with her husband Wally on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2019.

She was born September 24, 1930 in Duluth to Warren and Viena Clifford. She graduated Meadowlands High School in 1948 and married Wallace Dale Spongberg on May 16, 1955.

Barbara was a bookkeeper in Duluth most of her life. Her favorite things to do included square dancing, bowling, gardening and making candy. Barbara was also a longtime member of the V.F.W. and the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace; her parents; and sister Florence Hagen.

Barbara is survived by her children, Darlene (Scott) Marshall of Duluth and Brian (Cindy) Spongberg of Superior; three grandchildren, Michael (Jacqualyn) Marshall of Duluth, Trevor (Lisa Jenny) Marshall of Duluth and Sarah (Chad Bowman) Spongberg of North Bonneville, WA; four great-grandchildren, Moses, Ariella, Vashton and Benjamin; two nieces, two nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gathering of family and friends from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m., funeral service Friday, May 24th in the First Memorial Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
