William Pressnall, Jr.

Obituary of William "Bill" Pressnall, Jr.

William (Bill) Pressnall Jr. passed away on May 16, 2019 after a long hard fight with Multiple Sclerosis and recently pancreatic cancer.

Bill was born on February 14, 1953 to William Sr. and Mildred Pressnall. The family moved periodically due to his father being in the Air Force. At age 11, they moved to the Proctor area. Bill spent most of his life in the Proctor and Duluth area.

Following graduation from Proctor High School, Bill enlisted in the US navy and was a submariner. After his discharge from the navy, he attended the University of Minnesota (Duluth), concentrating on theater and writing. Bill had a variety of positions over the years: managing a skating rink, driving a taxi, and working as a nursing assistant at the nursing home in which he lived the last 11 years of his life.

He was an avid fisherman who anticipated opening day of fishing season more than his birthday. Very little gave him more pleasure than anticipation of that first day of fishing, unless of course it was the next day of fishing. Next to fishing he liked nothing more than writing, always dreaming of his great American novel. Bill led a simple life never needing or wanting the trappings of a cluttered life, let him

write or fish and the world was right. He lived life on his terms and didn't let Multiple Sclerosis take total control of his dreams or life. A gentle giant fondly remembered by family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Sr. He leaves behind his son Peter Pressnall, his mother Mildred Pressnall. Sisters Jackie and April, and brothers Don and Tim.
