Obituary of Gary J. Zoldak

Gary J. Zoldak, 62 of Duluth, MN passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Solvay Hospice House surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born in Duluth on March 12, 1957 to Henry and Jacqueline (Gormley) Zoldak and was a lifelong resident. Gary was a 1975 Denfeld High School graduate and attended WITC for welding. On September 24, 1983 he married Cindy Hartel and started their family. He worked at Diamond Tool for 20 years until their closure in 1994 and Verso Paper Mill in Duluth for 22 years until his retirement in March 2019.

Gary was a quiet man who enjoyed the simple things in life. Providing for his family was his first priority and relaxing was his second. Gary and his wife spent the past 20 years at Timberline Campground in Sturgeon Lake, MN. During the summer, they enjoyed entertaining at their campsite and taking friends out on their pontoon boat. Gary also enjoyed fishing with the guys, watching football, and relaxing in his recliner while watching classic TV.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cindy; daughters, Lindsey "Ri" of Minneapolis, Amanda of Duluth; sister, Cheryl (Kim) Craven of Duluth; nephew Derek (Christina) Gagne, Avoka, Iowa; loving in-laws, nieces, nephew, great niece and a host of long time friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at The Cremation Society of Minnesota4100 Grand Ave. A lunch reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Minnesota.
