In Memory of: Clifton (JR) Sumpter Jr

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, JR Sumpter, adored son and loving father of three children, passed away at the age of 38. JR was born on May 27, 1980 in Iowa City, Iowa to Clifton and Devon Sumpter. He spent most of his life living in St. Louis Park and graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1999.

JR will be best remembered for his contagious laughter, his great smile, his generosity, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was a loyal friend to many and an avid sports fan, most notably the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.

JR was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Colleen Miller and Melton and Elizabeth Sumpter; his uncle, Chris Miller and aunt, Rose Burney. He is survived by wife, Jessica; two daughters, Grace, age 12, and Elizabeth, age 10; son, Clifton (CJ) Sumpter III, age 6; and his loving parents, Clif and Devon. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and special friend Julie Eikenberry.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am with the memorial mass at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5900 W Lake St, St. Louis Park, MN 55416

A lunch will follow in the church basement and Interment will take place after lunch at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
