Obituary of Patricia Hope Ells

Patricia Hope Ells, peacefully went home to be with our Lord, on her 86 birthday, Sunday, May 5, 2019, surrounded by family.

Patricia was born in the hospital on the Fond du Lac Reservation in Cloquet, MN on May 5, 1933 to Frederick and Theresa Doolittle.

She was united in marriage to Earl Raymond Ells on October 5, 1948.

Patricia worked a variety of jobs as she was raising her children. She eventually earned her GED and went back to school to become an LPN.

Patricia was a member of Paine Presbyterian Church in Carlton, MN as well as a proud member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe. She was very active in the Native community in a variety of ways including spearheading promoting and advancing Wisdom Steps. She also served as an elder advocate.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; daughter, Jacque Meredith Abrahamson; and siblings: Maxine Avervik, Kenneth Doolittle and Francis Gruba.

Patricia is survived by her children: James (Mary) Ells, Rev. Susan (Eugene) Connor, Julie Ells, Robin (Noreen) Ells, Rev. Charles (Shelly) Ells, Betsy (Scott) Follis and Major Retired Tedd (Jennifer) Ells; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Frederick (Julie) Doolittle, Jr., Sharon Shuck and Nancy (Jay) Cormier; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Memorial Service, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, in Duluth.
