Obituary of Kathryn Edith Laws

Kathryn Edith Laws, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born the oldest of four children to Alger and Grace Dahlien on November 4, 1942. Kathryn was a graduate of Richfield High School. She went on to marry Thomas Laws on May 27th, 1961, and they were together 58 years at the time of her passing.  Kathryn loved working with all the wonderful people at the Metropolitan Sports Center and formed many lifelong friendships there.   Kathryn is survived by her husband Tom, son Todd (Vicki) Laws, daughter Kristine (Sean) Toomey, and grandchildren Sean (Sara) Toomey, Alyssa (Dan) Fourness, Alexa Laws and a great granddaughter, Yeva Toomey.   She is also survived by sister Nancy Dahlien, brother Tommy (Rita) Dahlien. She was preceded in death by daughter Rhonda (at birth) her Father and Mother, Alger and Grace Dahlien and her brother John Dahlien.  To all of us the word that best describes Kathryn is “soft”. Her heart, hands, voice, and actions were all soft.  She is our model of a perfect Wife, Mother and Grandmother.  Kathryn will forever be in our hearts and memories, and we will always miss her.

Funeral services will be held on June 5th, 2019 at the United Methodist Church of Peace 6345 Xerxes Avenue S, Richfield, MN from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Laws family would like to extend our gratitude to Ellen Smith and Beth Bouman with Allina Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathryn’s name to the Sandra J. Schulze American Cancer Society Hope Lodge 411 Second Street NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
