James Sellman, Sr.

Obituary of James Kenneth Sellman, Sr.

James (Jim) Kenneth Sellman Sr.

Jim Sellman, 87, passed away April 17, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth, MN after a courageous battle with cancer.

He attended Denfeld High School and later served in the Air Force Military Police. He worked as a heat & frost insulator Local 49, for 40+ years. Jim also started up his own insulation business known as Arrowhead Industrial Insulation.

Jim enjoyed playing hockey with the Raleigh street bunch, playing softball with the Grussendorf boys and golfing with the Lester Park bunch. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, the many fishing trips to Flin Flon, Manitoba and Alaska with his sons and the annual 4-wheeling parties at the family's deer hunting shack. After retirement Jim & Shirley enjoyed 18 years wintering in Kingsland, TX. Their Texas friends became like a second family. During his many years of playing golf he brought home many trophies, two of those being a hole in one!

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Eva & Clarence Sellman, sister Laverne Morterud; two brothers Jack & Roger Sellman.

He is survived by the love of his life Shirley, his wife of 62 years; sons Michael (Debra), Mark (Stephanie), Jimmer (Sandy), Craig (Branda); daughter Jill (Alex); sisters, Lorrayne Reid, Joan  Anderson, Peggy Williams; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10:00-11:00 am Saturday, April 27th followed by a celebration of life at St. James Catholic Church, Duluth, MN.

A special thank you to Dr. Kleinschmidt, Dr. Perelshteyn and St. Luke's hospice.
