I call Annette once or twice a year and just yesterday I found her phone had been disconnected. I almost sent her a note, thinking her phone number had changed but began to wonder if she had died. I had no idea. We talked at Christmas last year and once in the spring last year. She lived upstairs from me for many years on Grand and 4oth. I just had no idea she had died. I certainly would have attended the funeral if I had known. I will always remember how much fun we had at the Christmas parties I hosted in the apartment. She had a great wit and a wonderful laugh. I loved to hear her tales of her travels to Puerto Vallarta with her friends (she loved to talk about the donkey wandering into the bar and people she got to know in Mexico), and her trip to Italy with her mother. I know her family and friends will miss her. Oh- I also remember her telling me about her grandfather who was born in St Paul as his family had to flee from New Ulm during the Sioux War. My beautiful dear Nettie, your bright light lives on in all of us. You touched so many lives and you will be missed.
