Struxness, Martha "Marty" S. (Giffin)

Age 74, of Bloomington, passed away from complications of ovarian cancer on April 9, 2019. Survived by her husband of 52 years, Douglas Struxness; daughter, Jenny (Jason) Kunze; son, Eric (Alys) Struxness; grandchildren, Lexie and Reed Kunze, Emmanuel and Norah Ford Struxness, and sister, Pat (Gerry) Hanberry. Preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Jean Giffin. Marty was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1944, and after several moves in the early years settled in Minneapolis. She graduated from Southwest High School and subsequently graduated from Mankato State College in 1966 with a nursing degree. After her marriage to Doug, she worked as a hospital nurse in Michigan. In 1972 they returned to Minnesota and she became a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. Beginning in the early-80's she was employed as a nurse in several dermatology clinics until her retirement. She was passionate about volunteering and did so over the years at Children's Hospital Minnesota, Park Nicollet Hospice, and varied positions at Mayflower Church. Memorial Service will be held Thursday April 25, 1:30 PM at Mayflower Church, 106 E. Diamond Lake Rd. Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or Mayflower Church. "Leave them laughing."
