Obituary of Judy Nash Fritzell

Judy Nash Fritzell, age 79, died peacefully surrounded by family on April 7, 2019, after a courageous battle with diabetes. Judy was born on November 30, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN to Fredrick V. Nash & Elizabeth Strout. Judy grew-up in Wayzata, MN, in the Nash family compound on Lake Minnetonka, surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins. She enjoyed sailing and spending time in "The Gang of Six", a.k.a. her cousins and siblings. She graduated from Northrup High School in Minneapolis, MN and later attended the University of Minnesota. Judy served as a lab technician for SMDC for many years and raised her 4 children in Duluth. She was very involved in all their sports and served on the board at Portman Community Center and even coached broomball. Judy's passion was playing the piano. She also was a deeply religious person and loved spending time as a member of the Worship Team and offering her piano-playing talent to the River Church. Judy is survived by her children Robin Cortes Davis (Gary), Mike Cortes, Tim Cortes (Kathy), Sheila Studebaker (Steve) and her sister Sally Nash Iorillo of California, sister Margaret Robinson of Arizona and brother Will Nash of Florida. Of Judy's greatest joys, were her grandchildren who include Alex & Kaitee Larkin, Mabel Hulsether, Nick & Maddy Cortes, Cade & Kaia Cortes, and Gabby & Max Studebaker. The family would like to thank Cathy Hollinday who was a wonderful friend to Judy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13th with Visitation starting at Noon followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 at The River Church located at 1902 E. 4th Street, Duluth.
