Obituary of Leigh Stephen Mayer

MAYER, Leigh S., age 62, of Champlin, MN, went peacefully to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on April 4, 2019.  Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Patricia (Ingvalson) Mayer, brother, Charles "C.B." Bruce Mayer,; father in-law, John Peterson.  Survived by wife of 39 years, Jan; brothers, Kirke (Pat) of Longmont, CO, Kevin (Bonnie) of Red Rock, AZ, Brian of Lexington, MN; sister-in-law, Pam Carlson; brother-in-law, Dave Carlson; mother-in-law, LaDonna Peterson; many relatives and good friends.    Leigh was an active volunteer with the Twin Cities Marathon for over 20 years.  He loved participating in many Humane Society walks with all of his dogs.  Leigh was an avid golfer, belonged to a league for many years with his good buddy, Dan.  Leigh enjoyed spending time with friends just sitting on the patio watching Vikings and Twins games.  He and Jan didn't have kids of their own, but were blessed to have friends who were eager to share their children's lives with them and through the years, these kids became almost like their own.  Leigh loved them all.  Celebration of Life 11am Saturday, April 27 at Cremation Society of MN, 7835 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Park with visitation one hour before.  In lieu of flowers, family will accept memorials for Leigh’s favorite charities.
