Obituary of Ira "Jim" Smith
Ira ("Jim") Smith age, 83, passed away on March 24, 2019. Survived by wife, Linda, daughters, Cassandra ("Sandy") Smith (Gery Miranowski) and Jacqueline ("Jacque") Lee (Chris), grandchildren, Vivian and Dylan Lee, sisters Virginia Spence and Mary Jean Gilles and brother Willard Smith. Preceded in death by parents Ira Jay and Clara Smith, sisters Jacqueline Smith, Arlene Hill and Kate Herbison.
Jim was proud of his hometown, Elmwood, WI where he graduated from high school (Class of 1954). Starting in 1955, Jim served in the US Army at White Sand Proving Ground in New Mexico where he was the Administration Clerk. Jim attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Graduate School of Banking in Madison WI, and Graduate Savings and Loan Institute in St. Paul MN. Jim worked at Northern Federal Savings and Loan for 8 years prior to serving various positions in the US Bank System for 23 years and finished his career at General Motors Residential Funding Division. The most important job that he ever did was being an amazing father. Jim was known for his solid and quiet demeanor. He was adored by everyone who met him.
Memorial services to be held at Clark Grace UCC, 779 15th Ave N, South St. Paul on Friday, March 29 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
