Obituary of Nicholas (Nick) Edward Lilya

Nicholas (Nick) Edward Lilya, 23, of Moose Lake, MN passed away Monday March 18th 2019 as the result of a life-long battle with congenital heart disease. He was born May 19, 1995 in Duluth, MN, the son of Daniel and Sheryl (Stone) Lilya. He is a 2013 graduate of Moose Lake High School where he was in band and choir. Nick was an employee of the MN Dept. of Corrections-Moose Lake-as a Cook Coordinator for the past several years.

Nick loved music, tattoos, four wheeling, fishing, hunting, hockey, snowmobiling, the cabin, his family and friends and lived life to the fullest. Nick was stubborn, honest, caring, quiet, gentle and most of all loving. Nick never had a bad word to say about anyone and always put others before himself.

Nick will be forever loved and missed by his parents Daniel and Sheryl of Moose Lake; brothers Michael and Danny, sister Elyse, all at home. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Beverly Stone of Moose Lake. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, many great friends and his wife, Caitlyn.

Nick was preceded in death by grandparents Lee and Marilyn Lilya of Ely, great grandparents Joseph and Harriet Gregg and Chester and Dorothy Stone all of Duluth, and his dog Chewie.

A celebration of Nick's life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake Saturday April 13th, with visitation at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm.
