Obituary of Philip E Deming

Philip E. Deming, age 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at St. Therese of New Hope.

Phil, the son of Douglas and Wanda (Everett) Deming, was born January 6, 1951, in Geneva, Illinois, and grew up in West Chicago . He loved music and was always singing with his family at the West Chicago Bible Church, where he was baptized in faith at a young age.  Their home's location next to train tracks inspired his love of trains. Phil graduated from West Chicago Community High School.

He went to Bethel College for two years and attended First Baptist Church in Minneapolis, where he met Bev Reineke in May 1971. They were married in Morristown, MN,  on June 10, 1972, and moved to Illinois, where he completed college at Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1974. Upon graduation, Phil and Bev moved to Minneapolis, where he began working as an accountant. In September 1978, Phil and Bev moved to Waterloo, Iowa, with their first daughter, Kathy, where he worked at Viking Pump for the next 20 years. Phil and Bev joined Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, where Phil led AWANA groups, sang in the choir, and led worship for the church at times. Phil and Bev had two more daughters, Kim and Kristine, and in 2000, moved back to the Twin Cities area. Phil and Bev attended Revive Church, where Phil attended Adult Bible Fellowship, sang on the praise team, and led support groups. He was diagnosed with cancer in late 2013 and had a bone marrow transplant in 2014. He worked intermittently while continuing chemotherapy, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family.

Phil loved to read, bake bread and rolls, sing, watch trains, collect classic car models, and be with his family.

Phil is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverley of Coon Rapids; three daughters, Katherine (and Paul) Tschida of Coon Rapids, Kimberly (and Frank) D’Amico of Las Vegas, and Kristine (and Nick) Bartlett of Maple Grove; five grandchildren, Emily Postel (15) of Coon Rapids, Austin (12) and Grace (8) D’Amico of Las Vegas, Evan (10) and Elena (7) Bartlett of Maple Grove; five brothers and six sister-in-laws.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Wanda Deming, and his brother, Stanley Deming.
