Obituary of Dr. John David Mitchell

Age 86 a life long resident of Duluth passed away March 7, 2019 after a courageous battle with leukemia. His final days were in the caring hands of St. Luke's staff but he had also recently been supported by the wonderful staff at Primrose Retirement Community in Duluth. Dr. Mitchell was a well known Chiropractor for over 60 years, helping patients from all across northern Minnesota and also having served as the President of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association. "David" was a nature lover and sportsman and enjoyed traveling throughout the world. A Duluth Central High School graduate, he was a member of a state tournament basketball team and competed at the state golf meet. He also attended UMD and obtained his chiropractic degree at Northwestern School of Chiropractic. David honorably served our country overseas in the Army. Dr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents Dr. John David Mitchell Sr. and Lila Mitchell, and by sister Nancy Green. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and by his very best friend Nan Brethorst. Memorials maybe sent to Emanuel Baptist Church in Duluth. A celebration of Dr. Mitchell's life is scheduled for noon on July 27th at Emanuel Baptist Church in Duluth.
