Obituary of Roy E. Amundson

Roy Amundson, 95, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday February 9, 2019 in the Benedictine Healthcare Center.

He was born on January 31, 1924 to Einar and Matilda Amundson. Roy married Margaret Cornell on August 10, 1946. They were married for 70 years.

Roy was a World War II and Korean War veteran, serving in Germany and Japan. He worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus, a truck driver for Century Motor Freight and he then worked at Northern Pacific/BNSF Railroad for 34 years and retired in 1985.

Roy was a talented woodworker and cabinet maker. Friends and family were gifted many of his creations. He enjoyed his time at the lake when he had the cabin at Caribou Lake and he loved to golf with his friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, who passed April 5, 2017; his parents; his sisters, Myrtle, Esther, Alice, and Violet along with their spouses.

He is survived by his children, Alycia (Jim) Gilbertson, Steve (Jennifer Miller) Amundson, and Jim (Kelly) Amundson; grandchildren, Cory Gilbertson, Derik (Amy) Gilbertson, Krista Fodera, Jessica Amundson, Jarrod Amundson, Amanda Amundson, Kiel (Holly) Amundson and Katie (Teddy) Anderson. He enjoyed his six great grandchildren.

Gathering of Family and Friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Friday, Feb. 22nd in the Cremation Society of Duluth Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
