Obituary of Lorraine Bruss

Lorraine Bruss, age 87 of Bloomington passed away peacefully from complications of Lewy Body Dementia on February 4, 2019. Lorraine was the beloved wife of Del, loving mother of Tom (Tamii) Bruss, Mike (Ann) Bruss, Linda (Doug) Johnson, grandmother of Nina (Luke) Bouten, Zak Bruss, Emma Bruss, Eric Bruss, Luke Bruss, Lizzie Bruss, Devon Johnson, Megan Johnson, and great-grandmother of Alex and Ashlyn Bouten. She is also survived by her sister Mae Ann (Mickey) Swensen of Florida and many loving nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Mom's greatest joy was being with family and friends. Mom & Dad's 70+ year love story has been the shining light for our family. Mom was an avid bridge player and belonged to numerous bridge clubs where she cherished her time with her girlfriends as well as her Saturday night couples friends. She also loved her crafts. She spent her free time paper tolling and crocheting everything from baby blankets and bedspreads to the ever-popular hanging dish towels. Being a part of the "Sing for Your Life" choir at Friendship Village also brought her joy. We thank the healthcare staff at Friendship Village in Bloomington for their wonderful care of Mom for 2+ years. We'd especially like to thank Melody Angell of HealthPartners for her compassionate care for Mom as well as Dad. Also, a special thank you goes to the staff at HealthPartners Hospice who gave specialized, meaningful care to all of us during the final stages of Mom's life. And finally we acknowledge her number one caregiver who was always Dad. A memorial service to celebrate Mom's wonderful life will be held Saturday, February 16, 11 AM at Friendship Village in Bloomington. Complimentary Valet Service will be available at the front entrance. Memorials preferred to Friendship Village EAF.
