Obituary of Newell Myron Cederholm

Newell Myron Cederholm, born January 19, 1928 in Badger, MN to Maurice and Ethelyn Cederholm (Rude), passed peacefully at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN on February 7, 2019, a few weeks after celebrating his 91st birthday. He was a caring husband, father and grandparent who always enjoyed time with family. He served in the US Navy from 1946 with an honorable discharge on March 31,1948. He was very proud to have served his country. After he served, he attended electrician school in Chicago and then moved to Milwaukee and worked as a welder. 

He was joined in marriage to Dolores Marie Bialke on August 22, 1953 and they settled in Babbitt where he worked at Reserve Mining Company as a welder and boilermaker for 19 years. He then worked for the City of Babbitt as the City Clerk until his retirement. 

His many interests and hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, skiing, bowling, snowmobiling, gardening and metal fabrication. He was a private pilot and owned his own airplane for several years and eventually joined the Vermillion Eagles. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in the simple things in life such as sitting by the campfire, playing cards and reading. 

He is survived by Dolores, his wife of 65 years; children Bob (Kim) Cederholm, Judy (Brian) Thomas and Janet (Al) Priolo; grandchildren, Scott (Kasey Swiers) Thomas, Lisa (Zack) Anderson, Ross (Tara) Priolo, Jaclyn (fiance' Jace Romano) Priolo; great granddaughter, Lettie Anderson and Kasey's children Eli and Lena. 

He will be interred at Argo Cemetery this spring with a graveside memorial and celebration of life to follow.
