Obituary of Charles A. Hearn Jr.

Charles A. Hearn Jr. Born in Minneapolis in August 1936, dad joined his parents, grandparents and many waiting relatives in heaven on February 6. He was also preceded in death by his significant other of over 20 years, Nancy. He grew up attending Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, was a proud graduate of Washburn High School Class of 1954, served in the Army and Reserves, attended the University of Minnesota and worked for over 30 years for Canteen Co.. Over the years, he enjoyed downhill skiing, square dancing at the State Fair, visiting the North Shore, tending roses, feeding birds and was a passionate Civil War re-enactor, as a member of the 1st Minnesota. He participated in weekend reenactments at Fort Snelling and spent many summer vacations reenacting battles for movies, including Dances with Wolves and Glory. His greatest joys were Christmas, his daughters and his grandchildren. He is survived by daughters, Laurinda (Robert) Dahl and Denise Bauer; six grandchildren: Tiffany (Paul), Jesse (Katie), Gina (Jeff), Lianne (Cruz), Keith (Katelyn) and Julia; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Leslie); sister, Betty (Dennis); nephews and many cousins. Thanks to Centennial House of Apple Valley and Ecumen Hospice for the tender care of our dad, grandpa these past months. Memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, February 18 at Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to 1st Minnesota or the Minnesota Historical Society. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
