Obituary of Joyce Bernadine Hanrahan (Platzer)
Age 87 of Bloomington, MN passed away peacefully February 1, 2019. Born September 18, 1931 in Young America, MN, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Valeria, husband Jim (James), sons Michael and Keith, brother Harlan, and sister Bonnie. Survived by sons Steve (Janet), Bruce (Deb), Richard (Rebeca), Bob (Vonnie); daughters Victoria Gilpin (Nick), Patti, Jean (Rod); 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother to 9 children. She worked part time for Bloomington Public Schools while raising her children. In her later years she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Jim. She had a love for bowling and golf, and even got a legitimate hole in one. As an avid sports fan, she loved watching the Twins and Vikings and was always excited when her home teams won. Joyce loved being around her family and enjoyed vacations to warm destinations, time at a lake, fishing, bonfires, and playing cards. Joyce was charismatic with a great sense of humor. She was the glue to a large family and will continue to be loved and missed by many. A private internment for family will be held Friday, February 8th at the Bloomington City Cemetery followed by a public celebration of life from 5 – 8 PM at Cremation Society, MN; 4343 Nicollet Ave S. Mpls. All are welcome.
