LeRoy Hendrickson

Obituary of LeRoy Carl Hendrickson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LeRoy Carl Hendrickson. LeRoy, 84, died at St.Luke's Hospital on January 28, 2019 from complications from pneumonia.

LeRoy was born Sept. 27 1934 in Duluth and spent his entire life in the Duluth area. He attended Morgan Park High School where he played hockey, football, and baseball. LeRoy served his country in U.S. Army and Reserves from 1957 to 1963 attaining rank of Sergeant.

LeRoy met the love of his life, Therese "Teri" Villis, and they were married on May 25th 1957. This spring would have marked their 62nd wedding anniversary.

LeRoy retired from his position of head of maintenance at Oneida Realty in 1997 but retirement did not slow him down. LeRoy continued to cook for catering events, the All American Club, and the American Legion. Many of us will miss his soups, sausage, sweet and sour cabbage, and his champagne chicken. Going to SuperOne in West Duluth will not be the same without running into LeRoy on one of his daily trips there.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elsie Hendrickson and his grandson, Jacob Smith.

LeRoy will be missed by many but most of all by his wife Teri; his siblings Judy, David, Carl, and John; his daughters Pam (Bruce) Smith, Mary (Dale) Nikko and sons Mike (Monica), Matthew and Mark; His grandchildren Zachary (Krissy), Luke, Rebecca, Jack, Benjamin, Christian and Ryan and great grandchildren Wesley and Tripp.

On Monday February 4th visitation will be at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth, MN from 9 to 10am, with a memorial service at 10am. Luncheon to follow at the American Legion Post #71 in West Duluth. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
