Obituary of Virginia Delores Prest
Virginia Delores Prest met her Lord on January 2, 2019, at age 95. Virginia was born in Minneapolis, MN, on January 21, 1923. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and went to Secretarial School. She worked at Hanes Ice Cream Products. She was an Executive Secretary at the Ford Plant during WWII, at Lull Company, and for Minneapolis Mayor Hubert Humphrey. After the war Virginia met George Prest at a dance at the Marigold Ballroom. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage in South Minneapolis where they raised their three daughters. Virginia had a passion for gardening, a heart for helping people and she loved the Lord. Survived by daughters, Sharon (Norman) Planer, Nancy Moen, Lori (Robert) Porter; grandchildren, Kristi (Tony Kangas) Strandberg, Joshua (Meagan) Strandberg, Jennie Planer, Michael Planer; great-grandchildren, Adalee Kangas, Everett Kangas, Guy Strandberg; other loving relatives, caregivers and good friends. Preceded in death by husband, George Prest; brother, Vernon Peterson. Memorial Service Friday, February 8, 1 PM at Founders Ridge Presbyterian Homes, 6600 Auto Club Rd, Bloomington, MN. Visitation one hour prior, luncheon to follow. Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials preferred to Marie Sandvik Center.
