Kenneth Motzer

Obituary of Kenneth Lawrence Motzer

Kenneth Motzer, 72, of Duluth, passed away on January 5, 2019 in his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Kenneth was born May 29th, 1946 to Carol and Lawrence Motzer, in Eau Claire, WI.

In his early years, Kenneth served as a Tank Driver in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Teamsters, Local 346 and worked for the Radford Company as a truck driver for 30 years before retiring. He took great pride in having an "accident free" driving record.

Kenneth was known for his good looks and was very meticulous in his appearance, which spilled over to how he kept his yard, taking great care in keeping in nice.

His garage was his castle and the place where friends and family gathered to listen to his stories, which he loved to tell. It was "decorated" with items honoring his stepdad and he knew where every tool was kept. He was always glad to lend one out when needed but you had to "sign" them out so he knew where to find them.

Kenneth was quite the handyman and could do almost anything with his hands. He enjoyed working with wood, making Diamond Willow walking sticks, hundreds of bird houses, and many flag holders that he gave to friends when a loved one passed away that served in the armed forces. He had a love of hot rods and Harleys, full size and models, which he enjoyed building. He enjoyed watching boxing and football and was Vikings fan. He also enjoyed pull tabs and scratch tickets and would always say, "Show me a line, show me a winner!"

Kenneth was a fan of Denzel Washington and especially enjoyed his action movies. His favorite quote comes from "The Equalizer" movie; "The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you realize why."

Kenneth listened to 101.7 and "Rainman" was his favorite DJ. "Classic Rock is where it's at...I like the oldies." He was never afraid of the dance floor and had those James Brown moves.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Reilo Roine; brother, Leroy Sather; brother-in-law, Bruce Erickson and infant great-nephew, Andrew Olson.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Thelen and Kim Reisdorf; granddaughter, Tiana Martin; grandsons, Brendan and Jace Reisdorf; sisters, Sandra (Keith) Altonen, Alane Erickson, Shirley Roine (Tom Dusek), and Sharon (Ken) Peterson; nieces and nephews, Shane (Kim) Olson, Michael Sather, Jason Sather (Beth Porter), Stacy Olson, Travis, Lucas and Ryan Erickson, and Jake and Jessie Peterson; great-nephews, Wade Olson and Austin Sather; and special friends, Henry "Butch" (Claudia) Voelk and Dennis (Pam) Mattson.

Love has no boundaries and in the end it's all about leaving this world in peace. Yours was made and you can now rest easy. Say hi to mom, dad, Leroy and Bruce and hold little Andrew close for us.

As per Kenny's request there will be no funeral services.
