Obituary of Amr Barrada

Amr Barrada of Bloomington, MN. Born 10/9/38 Cairo, Egypt, died 1/2/19.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Hussein and Ismail, sister Shereefa and two nieces. He was survived by the love of his life Patricia Dokken, loving daughter Mona (Lee) Spencer, their precious granddaughter Alexandra, daughter Rima Peterson along with his dear sisters Mona and Fatma (Rafik) Barrada and countless other family and friends. Amr received a Master's degree from the American University of Cairo. He moved to the United States in 1963 and earned his PhD in both English and Psychology and later taught Linguistics at Williams College. In 1979, he began practicing Psychology at Abbott Northwestern's Brain Injury department which lasted until 1999, at which time he started his own practice in Edina. To know Amr was to know of his passion for classical music, art and nature. He loved singing and playing his piano but was also an avid Vikings fan & adored spending time with his granddaughter. He was a kind man who loved language & culture and had many friends of all backgrounds. It is impossible to quantify the number of people whose lives he touched with his therapy. Everyone who knew Amr grew to love him. He was a special man and will be dearly missed.
