Obituary of Barbara J (Bowser) Doherty
Barbara J (Bowser) Doherty passed away surrounded by her family, on December 13, 2018 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was able to celebrate her 90th birthday with family before her decline requiring hospitalization. Barbara was a strong supporter of education. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin (UW)- Superior with a bachelor's (Summa Cum Laude) and a master's degree in a 4-year period of time. After graduation she accepted a position at UW- Superior in extended degree, encouraging and supporting others in their pursuit of higher education. She remained in her position until retirement at the age of 80. Barbara was an avid reader often completing two novels a week. She enjoyed traveling. Her favorite place to visit was Maui, Hawaii where she and her late husband Peter Doherty visited yearly since in 1990. She is proceeded in death by her husband Pete, parents Alida and Manley Bowser and son-in-law Ron King. She is survived by Patricia (Doherty) and Charlie Armour, Cathy (Doherty) and Dennis Pattee, Wendy (Doherty) and Bradley Gotelaere, Barb (Doherty) King, Peter Doherty, Ann (Doherty) and Ron Hoffman, John and Mickie (Kerr) Doherty, nine grandchildren, Jenny (Armour) Renville, Justin Armour, Lindsey (King) Nampel, Amy King, Bizzy and Taylor Cowling, Chance, Aaron and Hunter Doherty ,and four great grandchildren, James and Blair Nampel and Brayden and Conner Renville. A private celebration of her life with family members will be held. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation for the Nursing and Medical staff at St. Mary's-Superior Hospital for their loving care in her final days.
