Obituary of Irene Frances Katoski

Irene Frances Katoski, 94, of Duluth died at Park Point's Franciscan Health Center on Tuesday, December 11th 2018.

She was born April 27, 1924 to Michael and Frances Mankowski in Duluth. Irene was a 1942 Denfeld Hunter graduate and as a young woman she worked for Minnesota Power until she married. Irene then worked side by side with her husband within their family businesses throughout their 50 years of marriage until Carl died in 1998. Throughout her life, Irene was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Irene will be remembered for her show-stopping quality of home cooking and family feasts and feeding countless numbers of Last Chance Liquor employees for decades.

Irene will be greeted in heaven by her parents, Michael and Frances; two sisters, Delores and Priscilla; her husband, Carl; and sons, Dick and David.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue Kozarek (Jim), Diane Palmstein (Dan) and Nancy Katoski; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 nephews.

Special thanks to the Franciscan Health Center for being her home for the past one and a half years, the wonderful and devoted staff is genuinely caring and that has been comforting and helpful in every way.

A gathering with family in the celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, December 15th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Avenue in Duluth, with a visitation beginning at 3:00 pm and service to follow at 4:00 pm.
