Obituary of Shirley R. Nelson

Shirley R. Nelson, 84, of Duluth, died peacefully in her sleep Monday, December 10, 2018.

She was born April 3, 1934 in Alexandria, MN. She moved to Duluth at an early age and lived at Island Lake for 50 years, until her death.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Cal and Ruth Stricker and her loving husband of 53 years George James Nelson.

She is survived by her sister and best friend Barb Johns; her four children Deb (LeRoy) Coffman, Michael (Colleen) Nelson, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Nelson, Steven Nelson (Glenda); 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

Shirley loved the lake, blue skies, sunshine, flowers, birds and critters. She was an avid reader and loved her one glass of wine every day. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, December 28th 2018 from 2-4 pm at Cremation Society of MN, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, MN.
