Harriet Vallier
Age 87 of Burnsville
Passed peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Harriet Vallier Norgaarden was born in Rogers City, Michigan on June 6, 1931, daughter of Clarence “Bud” Vallier and Rena Cleary Vallier. She grew up in St. Ignace, Michigan and attended Ursuline Academy, graduating in 1949. Harriet worked in the offices of Merritt-Chapman & Scott and Mackinac Bridge Authority during the construction of the Mackinac Bridge. She married bridge engineer, Harold Norgaarden in 1957. The family moved to Burnsville, Minnesota in 1967, where Harriet continued to reside for 51 years. She was an active member of Mary, Mother of the Church parish and a past volunteer at Fairview Ridges Hospital. She was also a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Ojibwe Native Americans. Harriet was preceded in death by husband, Harold, and survived by sons Eric (Jeanne), Jed (Debbie) and Willie (Jodi) Norgaarden, grandchildren Katelyn, James, Cole and Paige. Harriet’s passions were her family, friends, books, music and rollerblading. She was in the same book club for the last 25 years. A memorial service and celebration of Harriet’s life will be held on Thursday, December 20 at 11:00 am at Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville. Visitation at 10:00 am.
