Obituary of Lorraine Raymond Bissell Niemi

Lorraine Raymond Bissell Niemi, 96, of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully Saturday December 8th surrounded by family.

She was born September 27th 1922 in Duluth, MN to parents Leo & Jesse Ann (McCoy) Raymond, and was the oldest of 7 children. Lorraine married George Alfred Bissell on January 30, 1946 in Duluth and they were blessed with 5 children prior to his passing in 1966. She later married Hardie John Niemi who passed away in August 1983. In 2011 she retired from Super 8 Motel after 21 years. She belonged to the VFW 6320 and The Studebaker Drivers Club.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, June Loften and Carole Westman of Duluth; 2 brothers Allen Raymond of Duluth and Dennis Raymond of Texas; her loving husbands and step daughter Barb Enwall and her husband Al, of Duluth.

She is survived by her sister Lillian Horvath and brother Russell Raymond; son Denny Bissell and daughter's Dianne Behning, Barbie (Darrell) Swiger, Georgie Bissell Rapp and Lorri Bissell, all of Duluth; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank St. Luke's 6 West, 2 West and Dr. Schaefer for their amazing care. Lorraine loved to write and in her final days wrote "I truly hope all my kids, grand & great grandkids will remain forever friends. My last wish; then I can rest in peace". Mom/Grandma Rain - you can rest in peace.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, December 20th from 5-7 pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, MN.
