Obituary of Susan Joan Leonard

Susan Joan Leonard, 66, of Esko passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Essentia Health Medical Center in Duluth, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 28, 1952 in Duluth to Robert and Marie Leonard. She graduated in 1971 from Proctor High School and lived most of her life in the Duluth area.

Susan worked at Bayshore Health Center for 28 years, starting her career as a CNA and finishing as a Health Unit Coordinator. Her job was more than a job, it was her passion, her second family. The love for her patients and those she worked with was unmeasurable. She loved to travel, destined to float in the water any chance she got. Her family was most important, the most important part of her life. Her grandbabies were her everything, gave her the most joy of all. She had the biggest heart and was always the first one there when anyone needed her.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie Leonard, her brother, Joseph, her niece, Dina, her brother-in-law, Mike.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Tara) Stingley, Melissa Radtke, Robert (Lisa) Stingley and Amanda (Aaron) Kylven; siblings , Ruthann Carlson, Robi Staudinger, Bill Leonard, Trudy (Jeff) Gilbert, Dan "Buck" (Deb) Leonard, Peggy (Rusty) Brumble; her very loved friend, Gerald Berg, 12 grandchildren and one of which was her best friend, Megen Skare; 3 great-grandchildren, many other extended relatives, and Ottis, her best fur friend.

We would like to thank Esko First Responders, Cloquet Ambulance, Carlton County Sheriff's Dept., Essentia ER staff and the Palliative Care Unit for giving her the upmost care, respect and dignity during her remaining time with us.

Services for Susan will be held at United Lutheran Church in Proctor on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at noon with visitation at 11:00am. Gathering of friends and family to follow.
