Obituary of Marilyn Halvorson

Marilyn Halvorson, age 95 and a longtime resident of Duluth, passed away peacefully Monday November 19th, 2018 at St. Ann’s Residence.

Marilyn was born December 1st, 1922 in Ashland WI to Martin and Ellen Glad. She later moved to Duluth and married Harold T Halvorson. Together they had five children; Terry Halvorson (Judy), Tom Halvorson (Carol), Tim Halvorson, Tracy Halvorson (Carol), and Tammy Kramer (David). After her husband passed away in 1964, she met her long-time companion, Don Stenback. Don played a major role in her life, and all of ours too, for many years.

Marilyn worked several years as a waitress before becoming a Dietitian at St. Luke’s Hospital where she remained until she retired.

Marilyn had many hobbies through the years; she liked to ice skate, dance, do needle point, bowl, and cook. She loved to host family Christmas and always kept our family close.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her long-time companion Don, her son Terry, and all eight of her sibling’s. She is survived by her other four children, 11 grandchildren; Gina, Tommy Jr., Mike, Mark, Dawn Marie, Chad, Nathan, Robert, Melanie, Kimberlie, and Jason, and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 29th at 1:00pm in the chapel at Park Hill Cemetery, 2500 Vermilon Road, Duluth, MN.
