Obituary of Betty Jean Flanigan

of St. Louis Park passed away on November 13, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with MS.  She was born on December 2, 1941 in Bagley, MN. She was a 1959 graduate of Bagley H.S. In 1964, she graduated from the University of MN as an occupational therapist, and she later earned her masters degree in Maternal and Child Health. MS forced her to retire in 1998. As the coordinator of “348 TOTS”, a collaborative program of the Mpls. Dept. of Health and Family Support, Mpls. Public Schools, and Hennepin Co. Early Childhood Services. She married Michael Flanigan on November 11, 1967.  Betty Jean was very dedicated to her work, but her family always came first evident by her being a soccer, basketball, and skiing mom.  Over the years she enjoyed skiing, traveling with her husband, and hosting diner parties for family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Person; brother, Robert Person.  Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Michael; daughters, Molly (Jason) Skaalerud and Bridget (James) Brouwer; grandchildren, Cameron, Chase, Kiley, and Jacob; brother, Roger (Agnetta) Person; sister-in-law, Sharon Person; brothers-in-law, Pat (Betty) Flanigan and Tim (Cindy) Flanigan; many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon Friday, November 30th at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Mpls. Reception to follow at the Lakewood Garden Mausoleum.  Private family interment Ft. Snelling.
