Obituary of Larry A. Bailey

Larry A. Bailey passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Benedictine Living Community.

He was born March 26, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska and spent his childhood on a family farm in Kansas until moving to Fairbault, MN. Larry graduated from Fairbault High School in 1963 and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN on a football scholarship.

He was drafted into the Army during the Viet Nam War and spent two years stateside at Ft. Hood, in Texas, as an accountant. Larry attended the Minnesota School of Business for two years receiving his Accounting Degree. He then worked in Minneapolis as a public accountant.

Larry and his family later moved to Duluth, where he worked as an accountant for the Bombardier Corporation and later bought into the Riverside Marina as a partner. Larry worked as a salesman and accountant there until his health deteriorated and he retired to the home that he loved on Island Lake.

Larry was a friend to all, he loved to play cards, fish and be with his children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Austin Bailey.

Larry is survived by his wife, Susan of Duluth; children, Michael, Patrick (Sheri) and Jennifer (Brian) Holbein; step-son, Jesse; grandchildren, Zach, Zoe, William, Brenden, Taylor and Gage; his mother, Marilyn Bailey; brother, Allen and sister, Sally (Bailey) Gray; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Benedictine, especially Deb Havron, who called him Lar-Bear.

Memorial service 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24th at Fairbault Church of Christ, 937 9th Ave., S. W., Fairbault, MN, 55021.
