Obituary of Jewel Marie Olson

Jewel Marie Olson, of Woodbury, MN passed away on October 19, 2018. She was 77 years young. Jewel lived a full life. She had a happy marriage to her late husband, Gary Olson (A wonderful man), and after his death, she maintained her independence for many years. Jewel loved to travel. She had visited more than 27 countries after retiring from the St Paul Port Authority. She was the most well read person we knew. She had read hundreds of books. She had completed innumerable jigsaw puzzles (10,000 piece) and crossword puzzles. Her house was like a library, and her brain, like a computer. Whether it was playing bridge with her friends (she loved her bridge friends) or walking backwards at the YMCA, about which she said, “It’s good for your balance and your brain,” She always kept her mind moving. She was sharp-witted with a dry sense of humor that made us all laugh a little harder around the holidays. She was quick to share a tip on saving money, which is how she landed one of her most special friends, Dwayne (another wonderful man). Dwayne was by her side every day until her death. Jewel is survived by her brother Ronald Iverson (and yes, another wonderful man) with whom she took such great care, many family members, including nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins and many friends (you know who you are, and you are wonderful too).

I could go on, but each line costs an arm and a leg and Jewel would have wanted me to stop after 5 lines. May we all find comfort in knowing that she is now in the best place. We love you auntie Jewel. Your body is ashes, but your wisdom remains with us. Thank you for being a light for all of us.

Memorial service for Jewel will be held at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road on Saturday, November, 10 at 2:30p. Service will be followed by a luncheon in honor of one of St. Paul's finest ladies.
