Vera Majchrzak Rabey

Vera Rabey peacefully passed away October 30 while being cared for at home by her daughters, son, grandson and husband. She was born 85 years ago to Ray & Pearl Majchrzak. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Alden; Aunt Olive Kirkland; Polly, Tim, and Danny Majchrzak; her five children: Bruce Rabey (Marie), Kathy Moe (Dale), Therese Lorntson (Art), Diane Elia (Rino), and Valerie Haydon (John); six grandchildren: Angel Lundblad (Matt), Fabian Basina (Kirsten), Lello and Sabrina Elia, Andrea Rose, and Kyle Rabey; Four great-grandchildren: Sophie and Stella Basina, Martin and Bennett Breden; her two sisters: Pat Duncan & Millie Kriske; and a loving extended family full of cousins, nieces, nephews. She lived a full life dominated by nurturing her family and friends, close and far away. Her gentle soul is already dearly missed.

Visitation at 10 a.m., with service at 11 a.m., will be held at the Cremation Society, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth on Tuesday Nov. 6. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Duluth.

Born in Duluth, she remained in the area though enjoyed traveling throughout the US and as far away as Italy to visit family. In addition to being a full-time mother and wife she was a Girl Scout Leader, active in her church, PTA & community. Her love of flowers led her to pursue a degree in horticulture (we were so proud of her!), which she applied to the family landscaping business and her beloved flower beds. She loved her North Shore home with its view of Lake Superior and freely roaming wildlife. She loved it best when full of Family.
