Obituary of Norman Harold LaPole, Jr.

Norman Harold LaPole Jr. (Bud), 80, of Poplar, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 surrounded by family after an acute illness. Norman was born in Poplar, WI. on Dec. 29, 1937, the son of Norman H. and Florence W. LaPole. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and spent his entire career in banking with leadership roles at First American, Norwest and Bremer. He served as a military officer in active duty for the U.S. Army and as a leader for the Boys & Girls Club as well as the Lions Club. He had been a farmer since 1961 and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Norman and his brother Owen (Kit) were married to LaVerne and Marlene Wiinamaki, respectively, in a double ceremony on Dec. 29, 1961. He was preceded in death by his wife LaVerne LaPole, his parents Norman and Florence LaPole, in-laws Matt and Ellen Wiinamaki, his brother Owen LaPole, sister-in-law Marlene LaPole, and two brothers-in-law Robert Wiinamaki and Ronald Born. Norman is survived by his loving companion Betty Henry, two sisters-in-law Lucille (Wiinamaki) Born and Margaret Wiinamaki, a son, Norman H. LaPole III, a daughter, Luwanna LaPole and three grandchildren, Reed and Merrill LaPole Mosimann and Gwen LaPole. Visitation is at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church, Poplar, with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow the service.
