Obituary of Walter Arthur Stafford

Walter A Stafford, 93, of Duluth passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Essentia Hospital in Duluth, MN.

He was born April 24, 1925 in Duluth to William and Agnes Stafford. Walter was a 1943 Denfeld graduate and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. Walter returned home and married Elizabeth Jodouin on August 12, 1947 in Duluth and they lived in Riverside for 65 years. Walter retired from the Mesabi Railroad after 38 years as a brakeman conductor.

Walter loved the outdoors, daily strolls and to "bum around". He loved Lawrence Welk and various kinds of music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Walter; brothers William and Bob Stafford.

Walter is survived by his wife Betty; daughter Ellen (Jeff) Nace; grandchildren Holly Marshall, Justin Markus, Curt Lustig, Keane Carlson, Megan Nace; great-grandchildren Cassandra Bijold, Logan Marshall and great grandchild Jace Marshall. He will be dearly missed by his family.

The funeral will be on Saturday, October 27th with visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am at Norton Park United Methodist Church , 436 N. 79th Ave. W in Duluth, with a luncheon to follow. Burial at Oneota Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be sent to the Norton Park United Methodist Church.
