Barb was a magic person. She came into our lives when they were all still wound up in St. Katharine's/St. Mark's School in Davenport and in Iowa City. She provided Elsa, Martha, and Nic with the most amazing big sister imaginable, and me with a wonderful friendship that I will treasure forever. She was really an orphan in our care--her mom died, her brothers were away, she was then estranged from her dad and stepmother, and being with her as she grew up into the Barb we all knew and loved was a delight, even if a wild and stressful one at times! Seeing her a happy and fulfilled grown-up with her Kristi and that beloved family was a joy--how I wish she had been well enough for a final visit from Al and me. She will remain in my heart--in all our hearts--for as long as they last.

Barb and I were friends where she worked at MMD. She had the greatest sense of humor and actually came back to a retirement party with an FU (spelled out) shirt on! She was never short on those words and was honest and true to her core. She will truly be missed and I'm sure is in heaven having a good time if she met my husband, who had the same wit as her! RIP Barb

Barb and Kristi spent some holidays with our family. I was always touched at how genuinely wonderful Barb always was to my dad who lived with us then and my niece and nephew. 2 weeks ago,when Jo and I visited Barb, even in her weakness she asked about my niece and nephew. Kirsten has done a wonderful job in making sure that good care was provided for both her mom and Barb and in assuring these 2 important women in her life left this earth wrapped in the arms of her love. Now Kristi and Barb can be together in a forever embrace.
