Obituary of Lorraine Johns

Lorraine Johns gracefully entered heaven on Saturday October 20. She passed away at home surrounded by her family. Lorraine was born April 14, 1934 to Elsie & Herbert Lehr in Menno, SD. She attended Menno Public Schools and went on to complete her nurses training at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls SD. Lorraine married her high school sweetheart, Ellis, in 1955 and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. They have three children, Steven (Sheri), Kathryn Polson (Mark) and Mark (Colleen). They have eight grandchildren Kristine, Ryan (Stacey), David (Kristina), Callie, Taylor, Nicholas, Carter and Mikaila and three great grandchildren Logan, Aria and Kagen. Lorraine & Ellis have been members of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church for nearly 60 years. Lorraine sang in the choir, was moderator of the Women's Association and enjoyed serving as an active member of the congregation as well as being involved in many church social activities. Lorraine enjoyed having her family near to her, especially when they gathered for meals and spent time at the lake. She also enjoyed baking favorite treats, taking family trips, playing bridge, participating in bible studies with friends, attending symphony concerts and also singing in Duluth, Superior Symphony Chorus for nearly 50 years.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Glen Avon Presbyterian Church in Duluth on Saturday October 27 at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to be given to Duluth, Superior Symphony Chorus, St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth or Glen Avon Presbyterian Church Founders Fund.
