Obituary of John Lloyd Klassen

John "Jack" Lloyd Klassen, 84, of Alborn, MN passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

Jack was born January 12, 1934, in Ionia, IA to John and Violet Klassen. He graduated from Catholic High School in Elma, IA and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes football team.

Jack attended several technical colleges and served in the Air Force and Air National Guards, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He served from 1952 until 1988, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Natalie; grandson, Thomas; and great-grandsons, Aubin and David; two brothers; and four sisters.

Jack is survived by his wife, Greta; nine children: Sherri (Jerald) Kinkel, John (Kitty) Klassen, Perry Klassen, Paul (Lisa) Klassen, Llora Klassen, Barbara Ostman, Susan Greenwood, Elizabeth (Lance) Viche and Darian (Deb) Klassen; 26 grandchildren; 53.5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Violet Klassen; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. Funeral Service, Friday, October 19, at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.
