Obituary of Alton Seiler

Alton "Al" Seiler passed away peacefully July 18th at home at The Waters of Plymouth. He was 92 years old. Al is survived by Margaret, his wife of 65 years. He is also survived by his sons Keith (Stephanie), Scott Charlesworth-Seiler (Erika), Todd (Susie Osacho), and Lee Bailey-Seiler (Sheila), along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. He also leaves behind countless students whose lives he impacted. Al was born on December 29th, 1925 on a farm near Montevideo, Minne-sota. After high school he served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater of World War II. It was as a teacher that he met his wife, 'Peg,' to whom he was devoted. He taught in various cities in Minnesota before spending most of his career in the Robbinsdale School District. For many years, Al was a resident of Crystal. Among the things that mattered most to Al were his family, his faith, and his principles. He was strong. He worried because he wanted to take care of people and sometimes knew he couldn't. He had a great sense of humor and sometimes laughed until he cried. He wasn't afraid to laugh at himself. He appreciated the value of hard work, he helped others, he gardened, he taught us all, and he followed the exploits of his children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren who were always in his thoughts. Few things gave him more pleasure than holding the babies in the family. Al was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and man. He was loved, is missed, and has shaped the lives of his family and friends. The family extends our thanks to the people at The Waters for their kind, professional, and respectful care during his time there. Memorial Donations may be made to PRISM (People Responding In Social Ministry) at 1220 Zane Ave. North, Golden Valley, MN 55422. A service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 13th at Bruns-wick United Methodist Church in Crystal, MN. Internment of ashes will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Al's family would love for you to join us in celebrating the life of a wonderful man.
