Obituary of John Leonard Fellbaum

John Leonard Fellbaum age 85, lifelong resident of Duluth passed away peacefully Saturday, October 6, 2018.

He was born September 7, 1933 in Duluth to John and Eleanor Fellbaum. John was a 1952 graduate of Central High School and attended the Dunwoody College of Technology, receiving an associate degree in printing. On October 30, 1954 John married Nancy Ann Buchanan

John was a volunteer fireman and served as Fire Chief of the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was also a swim coach at the YMCA. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially his children and grandchildren's sporting events.

He and Nancy both worked at Northshore Theater in their early years together. John worked for various printing companies in the area before joining the staff at the Duluth News Tribune, retiring after over 25 year, as the Composing Room Foreman.

John was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Fellbaum; his parents; and two brothers, Paul and Jim.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; children, John (Cindy), Kirk (Kim), Chris Sorensen and Joel (Tami); grandchildren, Nicholas, Ian, Taylor, Breanna, Tyler, Jessica, Jamie, Jaclyn, Jodell, Cody, Chelsea, Stephanie, Jamie, Kelly, and Billy; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patty (Dale) Pesola, Sandy Handel and Gail (Don) Manz; a brother, Gary; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his dog, Jack.

Gathering of family and friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Oct. 13th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
